For the application, if required by the department, two references must be submitted. The GSNAS recommends you to take references as follows; if you are a senior bachelor student or a graduate planning to apply for Master of Science/Arts, consider taking the references from two faculty members who best know your academic skills and experiences; if you are planning to apply for PhD program, consider taking one from your thesis advisor and the other from your thesis committee members or a faculty member who knows your academic skills and experiences. If you are working in any sector, you may consider taking reference letters from your boss or managers. For the prerequisite about the reference letters, please visit Program Requirements.
*If you are exempt for submitting reference letters, you can check the "not necessary" box in the online application form.
*If you apply the same department as your bachelor for MS program only, you do not need take reference letters.
* Applicants should enter the information regarding to the referees in online application form. The link for submitting reference letter will be sent to the e-mail address of referee's. The link will be active for 48 hours, if the time limit passed the link will be expired. Applicants can check the status of references from the online application form.
